Can’t believe I haven’t written for over a month. I am doing some research on whether to invest in a HiSeq2500 or Ion Proton for RNA-seq and mutation detection. Checked out SeqAnswers, company specs, then see the NGS Field Guid 2013. Seems that HiSeq2500 is still the winner, with both the normal and rapid run giving better flexibility, good solid yield, and existing analysis pipelines. It is great that Ion Proton is also making headway. While it creates risks for investing on the wrong machine, competitors like Ion Proton motivates Illumina to continue improving its machines. There are a lot of exciting opportunities…
